Real Men Knit

I get emails from Lion Brand Yarn, a company that sells yarns and supplies for various yarn crafts. This was in today's newsletter. This fits right in with my stories that have Pippin knitting!

Dear LPT,

Yes, I can certainly why see every man would want a set of real wooden knitting needles. Firstly, they look like wonderfully fun pointy objects, and secondly, one never knows when one may desire to build a fire and what more traditional method than rubbing two sticks together. ooo, and I just thought of one more - if a male owner should ever find himself lacking a b'day gift f/ a female friend, viola, just wrap them up in some bright paper...lol.

My best - and you and M. Bruce have a great weekend,

ps - jeez ladies, do you see what you are doing to moi? You now have the most feared pirate in the Caribbean talking about knitting needles - knitting needles and cookbooks - if you ever EVER leak a word of this I will - I will - I will FORCE YOU TO EAT A GALLON OF CHOCOLATE (ou cinnamon) ICE CREAM - A WHOLE AND ENTIRE GALLON - AND I WILL SEE TO IT THAT YOU DO SO W/ A SMILE UPON YOUR LOVERLY FACES - THE ENTIRE LOT O'YA!!!!!!!!!!. There how da' ya' like them apples, my pretty darlin's?!?!?!?!?!

LOL! Dear Cap'n, as the wee video pointed out, men invented knitting. Ships cooks were men. The craft of tatting derived from making and mending nets, as did (I think) crocheting. And it wouldn't surprise me if even the most vicious pirate had to darn his own socks while at sea.

And just think . . . a knitting needle could make a good standin for a bodkin :-)

Hope you and LL have a good weekend as well :-)
