Very original subject isn't it?

I feel weepy. In part because I'm tired.

Not a bad sort of weepy - just weepy.

I had a good day with Sarah today. Went shopping for wedding stuff then over to her house to help her put together the centerpieces she'd come up with for the tables at the reception. They are hard to describe - I'll have to remember to take a photo next time I go over to her house.

I went to Delavan, IL on Sunday for the farewell picnic for Justin's former Guard unit. They left today for their training then leave for the Middle East. Justin feels bad that he's not going. His reasons for changing units were good & it wasn't at all to avoid going with them. They had no slot for the rank he was ready to be promoted to, so he had to change units if he wanted the promotion. He didn't wear his uniform to the picnic - he said he had the feeling if he had, he would have stayed there and gotten on the bus with them this morning.

Odd as it may seem, I understand his feelings.

They are going to have an inbeded reporter from CNN with them. One of the soldiers going with them is married to a soldier who did her tour of duty in Iraq already. She was a Blackhawk co-pilot. A rocket propelled granade (RPG) went through the glass floor of her chopper taking off both of her legs. The chopper crashed. She was at the ceremony yesterday. She was wearing a skirt. She has two artificial legs. She ran for US congress recently but lost. She is the current Director of the IL Department of Veterans' Affairs.

Justin served with her on one of his two-week guard training assignments in Iceland. He said hello to her before the ceremony and introduced me to her. I've read some more about her. She believes we have been wrong to have gone to war in Iraq, that it should have been Afganistan we went into as it is more strongly associated with Al Qaeda. But she did not even consider refusing to go when her unit was called up. She is one who strongly supports our troops but doesn't support the war in Iraq.

Bruce is gone all week. He'll be very tired when he gets home on Saturday evening.

I need to finish my story for Marigold's Challenge #40 this week. I'm hoping to get a couple of chapters done on the story I'm writing with Golden - "The Blessing" - as well. We'll see if I manage to do it all :-)

Good night for now. Hope all who read this are well!

Hope you're well too. I should be asleep and that is where I am going now. (I hope.) Good luck with the challenge story. I knew I'd be up to my ears in work and so I didn't take a starter this time. Work is keeping me too tired to do a proper job on a challenge. Last time I just got finished at the last possible second. I prefer to have more time even if the story comes all at once. It's still nice to read it over once or twice. LOL

Best of luck to you and Golden. It's always great to have an idea that you're excited about. I'm behind on my reading but hope to catch up this coming weekend if nothing gets in the way. Cross your fingers for me!

Drat your job!! I'll miss having a GW story to read at the Challenge.

There might not be a new chapter to read this weekend. Golden is out of town for some training and won't be back until sometime on Friday. I promised her at the very start of our endevor that I won't post anything until she has read it. So it will depend on when she gets things read and gets back to me - and if she wants any changes made. I'm hoping to actually get ahead a few chapters so I have a cushion against writers block or other emergencies.

You and PippinFan are both in the same bind with your jobs. :-(

Get your rest. Take care of yourself. Know your stories are missed.
