Hi :-)

Such a creative subject.

Is there anything new? Not really. I could wax philosophical, get all esoteric, but I'm not sure I will.

We had a nice peaceful 4th of July. I went to the fireworks (alone as Bruce had to get up and go to work bright and early on Thursday) and took photos with my newish camera. Many came out absolute trash. Some came out pretty good. Current userpic is one of the better ones.

Still writing "The Blessing" with Golden. It is going very well. We're hitting a section that will need careful handling as it could easily get melodramatic. Golden leans toward the dramatic - I do it sometimes but am leery of it, so we'll see how this goes.

I'm so exciting.

We had some friends over last night. The wife of the couple is the fiddler for our fav regional Bluegrass band, River Ramblers. She brought her fiddle and we jammed. It's been a while since she's heard me play and she was really impressed with how I'm sounding. She said she knows what to look for in a player's technique and that mine was looking just fine. I needed that. :-) She also really liked the waltz I've written. It is so nice to have another fiddler to play with. Sometimes I was playing harmony to her melody and sometimes vice versa and it sounded so good.

Ah . . .

I had a really great time at fencing last Thursday. Did OK with foil and kicked tushy with sabre. I really like sabre.

If I read the chart correctly, Keegan Roach from my fencing club placed 28th out of 93 contestants at the United States Fencing Assn. Nationals this weekend. That was for Division III Men's Epee. He was also in Division II Men's Epee but those results weren't posted yet.

I designed a logo for the Tolkien Fanfic get together that is the end of Sept. in Scotland. I've set up a CafePress store with stuff. No sales yet though.

I bought paint to do my living room. Now all I have to do is call Justin's friend, Nathan, and see if he can still help me get the "popcorn" crap off of my ceilings, and then actually get the painting done. Wish we could get the flooring redone, but there's no money for that yet. I'm sick to death of the rose coloured carpeting. We're leaning toward laminate or hardwood floors but have to be careful as we are on a concrete slab foundation.

Not much else going on.

Oh, looking forward to the Harry Potter movie and final book coming out this month. I'm hoping our theater does a midnight showing - if they are, Sarah and I are going to go :-)

Love to all who stop by to read this!

I saw your CafePress stuff. Very nice. I wish I could by something from both you and Dreamflower, but I'm to poor to even pay attention.

You sound like you want to do the same thing with your floors that I want to with ours, but we have the same problem of the slab. I know they make underlayment to go under the flooring, but I don't know if it is thick enough to keep out the cold. Someday I hope to be in a position to find out.

Nice firework picture. I thought about taking my camera Wednesday night, but decided not to. One of my Wee One's friends was taking pictures, and most seemed to turn out.

Wanted to ask if it was all right if I friended you. I check in on your journal from time to time, but always forgot to ask about friending.

Oh, please do, Garnet :-) and thank you! I don't post as often as I should but it's fun hearing from folks when I do.

Thank you for the nice comment on the CafePress stuff. I'm sorry you can't afford it, it is on the pricey side. I know the feeling. Not so much now, but when my hubby was pastoring, we could never afford much either.

I don't remember where but I did see an online article about photographing fireworks. I remember it said to set the camera to ISO 100, which was somewhat surprising. Timed shutter release. Tripod. That is about all I can remember. I didn't try any of it out though. I decided I just wanted to watch them. :c)

Good to see you hanging about. :c) *huggles*

Cool! I didn't even think of looking online, duh! I'll have to check it out.

Good to be here :-)

Huggles back :-)

Got my wand, and I'm ready for Midnight at the IMAX!

Alas, our local theater isn't doing a midnight showing :-( I'm really surprised and bummed out. The first one they are showing is 12:30PM on Wednesday and I'm sure it will be packed with kiddies.

Enjoy your midnight showing and cast a few encouragement spells on Harry and D.A. for me :-)

Oh I bet!!!

We went to the 12:30 and actually I think Sarah's boys were about the youngest ones there :-) It was mostly teenagers.

The movie was really good. I think most of the stuff they dropped was the right stuff to drop. I did miss the stuff about that Neville could also be Voldemort's nemisis though.

Hugs to you dear Wednesday!

BTW, the IMAX version has the last 20 minutes in 3D. IT ROCKS!!!
