I'm really tired. I woke up at 3:30 and couldn't get back to sleep. I had a setback with the living room redo.

I want non pastels. I went to Home Depot in July and played with their computer and came up with a nice pallet of colors - a yellow-orangey color (Spiced Butternut), a blue grey (Celtic Grey) and a brown (Warm Muffin).

The Muffins look great in the hallway. The Celts are looking appropriately foggy on a short wall in the living room.

The Spiced Squash looked like a school bus.

Or a yield sign.

Or the yellow stripe on a highway.

It was a wee bit (read: WAY TOO) strong.

I found out the lovely folks at Home Depot will lighten (or darken) your paint for free. I didn't think they could lighten it, but Danni (sweet girl) did just that. I went about a step and a 1/2 lighter. It's still not a pastel, but it's a whole lot lighter :-) Yea!

Now all I have to do is write a challenge story that doesn't want to get written, scrape the rest of my living room ceiling, prime and paint the rest of the ceiling (1/2 is already done), paint the remaining walls and try to figure out how to rearrange my living room furniture so it's more conversationally centered than TV centered while still being good for TV viewing.

I wonder when I'll be able to sleep better? Maybe after the wedding?

Bruce and I are going to the International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owenboro, KY on Saturday. We're leaving Friday, staying down there over night, doing the museum, then heading home on Saturday. Then Sunday, we're going to a small town not too far from here to hear our fav local Bluegrass band, the River Ramblers. So I won't be working on the living room much this week end.

I hope that's a good thing :-)

Hugs to all!

At least noone would lose a wall painted that shade of yellow.:)

Thank goodness they were able to lighten it.

Enjoy your bluegrass get-away with your husband, and don't think about your livingroom. It will be there when you get back.

I hope you and Bruce have a great time on the museum trip. And ceiling are a pain...almost ALL over head work is a pain.

*hugs you right back*

So many of my friends are in the middle of painting and redecorating this summer! Must be something in the air.

Wow! Sounds like you've done a LOT since we last talked about it. The colors seem lovely, warm and inviting; post photos when you get the chance -- I'd love to see it. :-)

Time? What time? Time to write? Ha. I know your pain, dear friend!

The wedding isn't far off now, is it? No...lol, no rest for the weary! All will go well -- I know it'll be a huge success. :-)

The wedding... I really am going senile - which wedding?

*L*! Getting 2 out of 3 colors is amazingly good! And at least paint can be painted over - *G*.

River Ramblers! Yay!

Let me guess, your first clue that the yellow wasn't quite right was when the crop of school children tried to board your house. *giggle* ;cD

Sounds like some really awesome color choices!!! Aside from the hard work I bet you are having a grand old time seeing it all unfold. And what a load off that will be from your mind being able to look up and see the fresh, smooth ceiling!!! Mazeltov!!!

I've been pondering what to do in my basement. Believe it or not I am thinking of going with white down there. *MysteriousWays pauses to give PearlTook a chance to recover from her near stroke*

I came to this choice after realizing that I can't make up my mind on one particular look and I would like to display my movie poster collection down there. The art gallery look will be better in white. I am thinking Polar Bear White and stain the floor Natural Henna. However I am pondering doing the laundry are in pink. :D:D:D

My mom's basement got flooded recently. Whole lot of ripping out of carpet was going on. After that I am thinking I want to ditch the dry wall and carpet in my basement and switch to water proof materials. Someday when the basement gets done up with a bathroom and everything I am thinking of doing frosted plexiglass for the few walls that go up down there.

I really wish I had a donut.

I like the sound of those paint colors. Except for the school bus one. But I'm glad it got lit up.
